5th Annual Dare to Wear Love - March 28th, 2014 - Toronto

Dare to Wear Love

Now in its 7th year, Dare to Wear Love has become the fashion event of the year!

Dare to Wear Love is an annual fashion gala and fundraiser, founded by Chris Tyrell and Jim Searle of Hoax Couture. Every year, they challenge 25 of Canada’s top fashion designers — Comrags, Brian Bailey, Lida Baday, David Dixon, among others — to create a one-of-a-kind wearable work of art from six yards of African textiles.

Dare to Wear Love celebrates Canada’s fashion design community and their commitment to social justice by raising awareness of the AIDS epidemic.

Since 2009, over $250,000 has been donated to the Stephen Lewis Foundation through ticket sales, silent auctions, the Dare to Wear Love Challenge, and generous corporate sponsors such as Cineplex Media and BMO Financial Group.

Dare to Wear Love 2016

This year, we have an opportunity for schools to participate in the Dare to Wear Love Challenge. We’re challenging schools to host a fashion show and walk the runway at the November 26th Dare to Wear Love Gala. If you want to participate in the Challenge, but aren’t in school or want to do it as a personal challenge, contact Sarah Dopp at sdopp@stephenlewisfoundation.org to get involved.

1. Register Online

Contact community@stephenlewisfoundation.org to register.

2. Host a Fashion Show

We have 25 stunning designer outfits from previous gala shows. We can loan them to schools or you can design your own creations to wear in your fashion show.

3. Collect Pledges

Sell tickets to your fashion show or collect pledges for the Stephen Lewis Foundation. For every $100 raised your school gets a ballot in a draw to walk the runway at the Dare to Wear Love Gala on November 26th at the Ritz-Carlton in downtown Toronto.

The more money you raise, the greater your chances.

4. Walk the Runway

If your school wins, you get to choose a representative who will walk the Dare to Wear Love runway wearing a custom-made outfit, one they get to keep.
