The Trent Hills Grannies for Africa's Spring Fundraiser brings you award winning author, Judy Fong Bates!  Ms. Bates will read to us from her latest book, "The Year of Finding Memory."  The Publisher describes it as an elegant and surprising book about a Chinese family's difficult arrival in Canada and a daughter's search to understand remarkable and terrible truths about her parent's past lives.  This book was chosen by the Globe and Mail for the '2010 Globe 100 Best Books of the Year.'

Tickets for this event are $12 each and includes scrumptious dessert and coffee or tea.  Tickets are available at Eclectic Mix in Warkworth and Kerr's Corner Books in Campbellford.  All proceeds from this event will go towards the Grandmothers Campaign and the Stephen Lewis Foundation.

The Haliburton Highland Grannies are celebrating their 5th anniversary by hosting an African Film Night, featuring the film"A Small Act."  This exciting event will also include musical guests Outloud Womyn and Abbey North Drummers, as well as dancers from Heritage Ballet.  Enjoy some African refreshments and a unique Silent Auction, with the auction preview from 6:00pm to 6:30pm.  

Tickets are available at Minden Pharmasave and are $8 each in advance, or $10 at the door.  All proceeds will go towards the Stephen Lewis Foundation and the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign in support of grandmothers in Africa who are working to turn the tide of HIV/AIDS in their communities.

GrammaLink-Africa Presents the 3rd Annual Mosaic Muse: A Concert Celebrating Women in the Arts.  This exciting event features Donna Durand with Rob Hughes and Maggie Andrews, the Take Note Jazz Choir, and the Magdiel Gospel Vocal Group.  It also includes a display of selected art, refreshments, and a silent auction.

The Burlington UBUNTU Grandwomen present the Dofasco Male Chorus.

About the Dofasco Male Chorus: In 1945, a group of enthusiastic men, who shared a common love of singing, formed the Dofasco Male Chorus. Today, the 50-member-strong chorus, conducted by ArcelorMittal Dofasco retiree Geoff Bullivant and accompanied by Nancy Bullivant, who also serves as Associate Director, is highly acclaimed as one of the finest male choruses throughout all of Canada.
