The African Advisory Board
To ensure a strong degree of African participation and guidance, the Foundation has an Advisory Committee of prominent Africans to discuss objectives, policies, best practices, successes and failures.
The Advisory Committee is headed by the Honourable Graça Machel, former Minister of Education of Mozambique, and currently the Chair of the Foundation for Families and Children of Mozambique (and an Honorary Degree recipient of Ryerson University).
Other Members of the Committee are:
- Dr. Agnes Binagwaho, from Rwanda, Commission National pour la Lutte Contre le SIDA-CNLS; and
- Ms. Sisonke Msimang, with the Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa;
- Ms. Theo Sowa is a Social Development consultant focusing on policy development, advocacy and child protection issues. Born in Ghana, she has lived and worked in various parts of Africa, Europe, the USA and Asia.
